My saddest day: My baby sister, Seema, lost her fight to Covid

Welcome, Everyone

I am writing this with a very heavy heart.
Although, these words cannot describe what I am going through at present.

Death due to Covid-19

Death of my dearest, younger sister, Seema, following a battle with Covid-19 on 29th Jan 2021.

Seema was born in Kenya on 13th April 1969 & the family immigrated to London, UK on 18th April 1971, when she was exactly two years old.

A very happy child with the most infectious smile. Her smile lit up the room.
She was the apple of our eye. Our baby. A most self-less, charming, vivacious personality who was ready to help anyone at any time.

She was a former chairwoman & founding member of the Maidenhead Hindu Society, and a teacher by profession. She arranged countless charity & fund raising events for the local community.

She was the soul of a party, with her ever-dancing shoes. Her iconic dance was “Sheila ki Jawani”. Seema loved Bollywood & Pakistani dramas, and I could spend hours with her dissecting every dialogue & actor.

She was a great singer and part of our music group, where she would enthral all the other girls with her renditions of popular songs, sung in her sweet voice, in usual zest.

She treated all people with greatest respect, no matter how old, educated, social status, or background. She had an uncanny nature of connecting with anyone who she came across. Anyone who had met her even once, would not forget her. In fact, I had heard many say, that it is as though they had always known her.

She was my baby. I was 11 years old when she was born. I remember the day I got her from the hospital. I remember taking turns to feed her when she took to bottle-feed. She was more than a sister. She was my confidante. With daily phone calls, we could discuss every issue in our lives.

Her departure has caused a big loss, not only to our family, but to her own husband, Anurakt & three children, and also to the whole local community. She will always be in our hearts. Her spirit will always be with us.
