Shashi’s Bio
Born in Nairobi, Kenya on 22nd December, 1958. She spent two years of her early school years at The Sardar Patel Vidhalaya School, Lodhi Road, N.Delhi; followed by St. Xavier’s Junior School, Kisumu, and then onto Kisumu Girls’High School (where both her parents were also teachers), Kenya; and on April 17th, 1971 she immigrated to the United Kingdom at the age of 12 alongside her father; Basheshar Bhanot; mother, Krishna Bhanot and three
younger siblings, Ravi Bhanot, (now, J.P. & MBE) Ritu (Ritu Sethi, solicitor) & Seema Sharma (teacher).
She went to Beal Grammar School for Girls, Ilford, and then went on to study Pharmacy at De Montford University, Leicester, where she left with an Honours Degree in 1980.
Shashi Gossain is an experienced pharmacist and opened her first pharmacy at the age of twenty-two years old, in 1982, in Fulham, London. Her pharmacy in Kensington, London, was sold after thirty-five years of practice.
Shashi is a sister, mother, wife, daughter and grandmother. She was married on July 27, 1981 to Dr. Jagdeep, and has three children and five grandchildren who all reside in the United Kingdom.
All her children have found great success in their professional careers. Her oldest, Vanita Rattan is a Doctor owning the The Hyperpigmentation Clinic on Harley Street in London, UK, while, Sarita Pindoria is a registered Pharmacist and her youngest, Shiv Gossain is a noted Investment Banker.
Shashi comes from a long line of driven individuals holding their faith close to their hearts. Her father, Basheshar Bhanot, a teacher, was an instrumental member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad & developed the VHP Mandir in Ilford, London in 1982. While her great-grandfather Pandit Dayaram Prashar, was the presiding Priest at the Santana Dharma temple in Nairobi, Kenya, from 1901. In 1981, Shashi’s father in-law, Mr. Balram Gossain, an eminent lawyer, also found success in building the Hindu Mandir in Slough in London, England.
